THE SHOW

This show is a mess.  Sure, Brant would note that it's an "award-winning mess, at least" -- but it's still a mess.

It's supposed to be smooth...but it's not.  At all.  Brant, the host, says it's supposed to make him look, "You know, cool and awesome and stuff, like one of those guys on the radio who just says something and everybody laughs and you're not sure what they're laughing about, exactly, but you think, 'Man, that guy must be awesome."

But that's not how "Mornings with Brant" works out.  Brant says, "I want it to be cool, like '24', but it always winds up exactly like, 'The Muppet Show'."

It's not that he doesn't have good help:  Katie Rose, the new Executive Producer, and Pablo, the "Tech Guy", are true professionals.  "He doesn't hit the right buttons all the time, and there are these awkward pauses," says Pablo.  "But it works out.  The listeners are great."

Brant says the show, ultimately, and thankfully, is about something larger.  "We have an agenda here, and we're honest about it.  We want to see people's hearts turned to God -- to really love Him.  And that includes Christians," he says.  "I'm convinced that the heart is the issue, always.  Everything else -- caring for the poor, doing the stuff we need to be doing -- it all follows."

It's an odd mix.  Quirky, honest, random, challenging, awkward, sometimes even deep...but it somehow works out.  "Mornings with Brant" has won several recent awards, including a Christian Music Broadcasters Echo Award for "Personality of the Year" and an Radio and Records "Achievement Award" for "Christian Radio Personality of the Year"

Brant's thrilled to win stuff, "But I do wonder if the people who vote for those things have actually heard the show."
