FAQs from World Vision
What is “The Best Worst Trip”?
It is a judged contest for new World Vision child sponsors. We’re trying to find a listener who loves World Vision, loves their children, and wants to tell others about their sponsorship.
What do I have to do to enter?
Sponsor a World Vision child between May 1 and May 31. You will receive an email with details on how to submit and official entry.
What is an official entry?
- A short web application
- a recording made by you on a voicemail system. In less than two minutes, you must finish the statement, “World Vision should take me on The Best Worst Trip because …”
What is the Prize?
A trip for you and a guest to see the work of World Vision including:
- Round-trip airfare from a major US airport
- Ground transportation, meals, and lodging in the foreign country
What expenses am I responsible for if I win?
World Vision and the radio station will be providing airfare from a major US airport to the foreign country, all meals outside the United States, all transportation outside of the United States, all lodging outside the United States, and other expenses solely at their discretion as the need arises.
You are responsible for all other expenses including but not limited to passport, transportation to and from the major airport, luggage, inoculations, tips, duties, and souvenirs.
You will also be responsible for any taxes on the estimated retail price of the prize package.
Am I eligible to enter?
If you are a citizen of the United States, you are eligible to enter.
If you are under the age of 18 (as of May 23, 2010), your parent or legal guardian must sign your official entry and accompany you on your trip. If you are over the age of 18 and would like to take someone under the age of 18, your guest must be your biological or adopted child, or under your legal guardianship.
Employees and family members of CHRSN, GSF Media, World Vision, and any of their subsidiaries are ineligible to enter. Other exclusions may apply.
When is the trip?
World Vision is still working out final details with the host country. The trip will take place between July 15 and August 15. The trip will last approximately seven days.
Where are we going?
The destination of the trip will be revealed when the winner is announced.
Are there any pre-requisites?
Yes, in order to properly enter the contest, you must:
- sponsor a child
- complete all parts of the official entry form
- already have a passport or proof that your passport application is in process
How is the winner chosen?

When will the winner be chosen?
Friday June 25 at 5:30 pm Central or at another time defined by the radio station.
What is the phone number to call to leave my voicemail entry?
You can find that phone number in the official entry email. If you have deleted or lost it, we are happy to provide it again, however, we have chosen not to publish that phone number online. Please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Include your name and address as they appear on your World Vision sponsorship account and we will send you a reply including the phone number.
Do I have to have a passport to enter “The Best Worst Trip”?

We invite you to apply for a passport now by following this link (http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html). All expenses are your sole responsibility.
Do I need any special shots or inoculations to travel?
You might. Every country has different requirements. The finalists will be notified if any shots are needed.
